Chat bot or Chat gpt and the use of AI, what say you?
My thinking is scattered on the subject of using AI to write stuff for me. Some of the questions inside of my mind though varied always seem to revert back to a couple of common denominators. The questions I have had perhaps any others in the writing community also have and so I thought that a post about the subject could help me solidify my thinking and decisions in the area.
What say you all?
Here are some of the reasons or reasoning and my thoughts around the subject.
- What is chat GPT?
- How does it actually work?
- Is it fool proof or makes mistakes to be completely replica of human?
- Am I selling out or working smarter rather than harder?
- Is using AI to level up in contradiction to why I write in the first place?
- Am I writing to get discovered or for me?
- Is using Chat GPT going against humans and replacing with machines?
I am using the questions above as real questions to real people and so would love some or any of your thoughts and answers to same.
My brief understanding is or let us say far fetched ideas I have in my head are that we/I can use program from the internet and speak into it some scene ideas or subject matter and the program will create me a movie or stage play or a book or even a blog post.
The AI (artificial intelligence) will then create / produce some content for me to post and with that being done I can call it my own content. Is this correct?
Basically a program from the internet that will create content for me by simply entering in some few details and the AI will go ahead and create from there for me.
So let’s just say that I am in support of working smarter and not harder, I want to fill ten thousand websites with my newest blog with a ton of back links to my website and increase my own sales of books through Amazon and my website. AI and chat GPT seems to be able to do that for me, and then it becomes a no brainer right?
Though I then become conflicted because even though I would like to increase my book sales, let’s face it, find me an author who does not like to have new readers and reach further around the world with their writing work? So I go ahead and use the AI programs to do my work for me, is this even writing anymore? I have never been in this for exclusively books sales. Writing holds so much more for me other than recognition and book sales. Would you agree?
I have heard some ads lately on the internet where it is a computer generated voice speaking and there have been some instances where I have heard major mistakes in speaking some of the words. Is this a feature of AI on purpose so it does represent humans and makes mistakes on purpose (though they sound a lot more whack than a human making the error)? Though it is funny to hear and seems “stupid”.
I am in support of progress where and when I see it in life, this is true. I am not in support of replacing human creativity. Part of writing for me has been a huge benefit in my life to aid and assist me in the process of processing me. This blog post right here is the clear representation of this exact idea. I am writing something that has been going around inside of my head and by writing it out and reading it back I can formulate a better decision making process for myself. Is it even creating by using computer assisted technologies to do so? Animation was made digitised quite freely over the recent years; does this mean writing can be the same?
I guess it is all ultimately or boils down to the simple facts of what can make more money and what can make more money faster for people. “Slow dough is better than no dough”.
Not really dough (though lol) Yes I would like my blog posts to reach your inbox by the tens of thousands when I do come up with my “random thoughts” and to gain a larger audience for my writing. This is the case with most writers. What I will not do is to call myself a creative and use a program to do the work for me. It kind of defeats my own purpose in writing. What about you?
The couple of common bottom line thoughts tat I land back to each time are; It is not of my creation then it is not something I can call my content & secondly I am no longer a writer if I use AI to do my writing for me. I may remain a creator by bringing my ideas into play by way of using AI all the while I am not writing and simply churning out ideas then.
Book sales come and go and blog posts will keep happening by me and for me. I have no interest in using AI to make something for me at this time in my own writing career.
What say you all?
