IRISH POLITICS part 11: The DEBATE
The red herring, the smokescreen and sideshow that oh so many wish to hear over and over again.
While the comments below are merely an opinion piece, they are my own thoughts to be challenged, agreed with or debated (open to either).
The Smoke Screen
Focus on affordable housing.
It is not that the issue is to be ignored or thrown out altogether, nope. The smokescreen in play is that now the age of politician is now slowly wakening up to the facts that their own children may not be in a position to buy a nice home some day and so it deserves the main stage in political debate. Not the key issue in the society of Ireland today. Though there have been so many let downs by the current Government and the Governments of the past 20 years or more. The seducing of votes is being targeted at those who might be on the cusp of wanting a home, a dual income couple who wishes for a home, though not affordable at the moment. The politicians in the race today believe they are the people who will swing the vote. What a load of nonsense.
When I listen to a political debate in Ireland prior to an election I really want to hear what the Government will do to reduce the spending, the wasteful spending that has been going on for quite sometime. Not hear about 50k houses over the next five years. This does nothing to shorten the length of time a person will wait in a hospital waiting room.
Coalition parties and Government forming.
We have heard tonight exactly how all of the current people running for election are ready to roll over and form a Government with any other party and all of the candidates represented tonight have shared how it sounds like anybody BUT the formerly associated provo outfit. Do we ourselves really represent new policy and new changes? It has been shown once again in the public platform to be more about criticising each other and put each other down rather than seek solution. Manifesto or not, a whole bunch of money wasting continued.
RTE, you have failed the country once again and I perhaps should have known this before ever switching it on. The agenda, the narrative of let us focus on housing nonsense talk, the facilitating of nonsense criticisms of each other. What has all or any of that achieved. I believe that the lesser groups or associations do speak better ideology though who will ever give the less experienced a chance?
The formation of a Government in Ireland must be of all and total new blood. Those who have never had though first and foremost the pensions and the salary of said Dail members must be capped. Yes indeed, every politician’s pension and salary must be capped. Please let me see who and how many of them will be looking to take office and make a true difference once we can see it is not all for the gain of their own pockets first.
Please allow every one single Euro that can be saved from greedy politicians salaries and pensions be directed in to the health service and child poverty equally. Your country of Ireland will never prosper in the future as long as nonsense talkers continue to rape the coffers.
Perhaps you wish to see change and believe there is a new light in passing the baton to the sinn fein party, perhaps you do not. My opinion on the “Largest Debate ever” nonsense first off as it has been the worst possible spin off or more like parody of a US debate. Like watching Montgomery burns and take your pick of the simpsons go at it with no substance at all. A joke, a mockery and a disgrace that how ever many of you tuned in to see and might even support. I have a fondness or a liking to Mr. Martin though politically, I would say, down more so though I am aware that it is merely due to my own expectations. The Aontu guy seems to represent some good points though greed does ooze out from the guy, Peader I believe he is called. Not for profit has some great ideas and I wonder would there be a willingness to salary cap from that party? After all the foundation of the party is “not for profit”.
Health care system, over haul required – Immediate.
Child poverty, immediate action needed.
Child poverty, yes this means homelessness and nourishment for all. If we wish ever to see a better Ireland we must begin at the beginning. It is not enough to take care of all the wanna be homeowners with affordable houses, we have a pressing need and it is a must that we can provide safe shelter, health care and nourishment to all of the young people of Ireland. This is the only way to improve the country in the long term. Remember the 3 year olds of today will be the voters of the 2040’s. Who really cares if the cars are electric and the turf remains in place by then if the entire population is suffering from every chronic disease known to man.
And the subject of health care covers mental health too, please do not forget.
Immigration.
Who is taking any of that serious? Who is safe guarding the few reserves that Ireland has for the Irish. I do not have a desire to continue to hear about direct provisions and people turning up at Dublin airport with no documents. Every other country in the world holds the airline responsible for any person that arrives undocumented and places the burden directly upon the airline to return to send the person who arrives with no papers. Not here in Ireland though. If anything that I ever learned in the United States, it was that for those who wish to immigrate via the proper channels the door is always open. Anything other than that route. Slan abhaile.
I guess it really does take an open mind to see through nonsense and the point of being fed some form of cutting at each other debate as a valid or true representation of what Dail Eireann has become is pitiful. A shambles to say the least.
Salary cap urgently required. Pension reductions for all politicians. The only way you will ever get true passionate politicians who arrive because of vocation.
Immigration must be reformed immediately.
Children must be understood to be the future and not only in a fancy few words, by way of serious action. Please do not confuse this with 10 euro childcare per day. That is not an answer. Ireland has been founded and has an extremely long history of a country where a family could be raised. Long ago before the computers and the alphabet era.
Health care for all and immediately. Any person on a waiting list for serious health concerns must be properly and rapidly dealt with. Any person sitting in a waiting room right now does not wish to hear about affordable housing.
Civil servant offices, oh no, nobody wishes to speak about those. That right there is the dynamite that will spew accountability all over the place.
Question.
How come Ireland cannot train and raise new professionals with job security?
Borders and tariffs with England, why not they have pillaged for years. Our time has come. Sounds rebellious doesn’t it?
Britain our main competitor in Europe in a whole bunch of markets, though the fishing and the farming are enough to look at. Oh yeah, did you not know our country was not founded on car sales and internet offices or insurance brokers. Nope, long time ago Ireland was a fishing and farming country. Britain leaves Europe who are our main competitor across these sectors and yet we never leap frogged anywhere and gained by the exit of the britains…..How come? Weird isn’t it?
Political debate my eyeball……..
Do you feel better informed after that great RTE show this evening?
Will your vote count now?
I really do not hold much hope for any change until real change is implemented by you the voters.
I propose the formation of a new association, group, and party.
