The first Saturday of the New Year
All the new plans for the year, are they already shot? Dry January, No beer for the New Year? Or maybe you promised yourself that you do some gym stuff and get in to better shape? A work out here and there, though it is probably okay if I wait until the holidays are truly over and I can begin on the Monday 6th of January perhaps?
And here we are like the holidays have never even happened. First Saturday of the New Year and I or you or we, have procrastinated our way to January 4th in the blink of an eye and the first Saturday of the New Year sees us no further along with our resolutions.
Of course, I am only saying that it is a “maybe”. Because of course, there are many who are 4 days in, and keeping up their new promise to themselves.
The reason I bring it up and in no way at all to shame you in to anything. The reason being that there is always huge understanding from my perspective. Huge understanding that humans will always be humans first and that does not mean any person has been too lazy to begin a New Year promise to themselves. It can be just the way that life goes. We can all of a sudden find the days slipping by without noticing and here we are on the first Saturday of the New Year. It happens all of the time and it brings about an important point to consider. A method of understanding how not to be too hard on ourselves for missing out on a day or two. A method to remind ourselves of how nothing is wrong or that a small broken promise does not hurt in any way.
The tid-bit of magic words that we can remind ourselves and it does not negate procrastination at all or undo any time lost or even bring back anything that has already past us.
There are simple ways to help ourselves understand that nothing is ever the B all & End all of life.
Today marking the 4th day of the year and the first Saturday of the New Year is the same as any other year or day or week, really. What is a key to helping us along the road we have chosen in life is to remember these simple words and when we repeat them to ourselves on a daily basis we can begin to understand a lot of how we can minimise stress in our life. We can reduce pressures that we are placing on ourselves, in a sense; we can unburden our life quite simply.
What are the words already? I hear you ask.
The words build a concept and help us see a little bit clearer view inside of our mind. We can begin to take a tiny little different perspective when we say these words to ourselves;
One day I might get around to it, would be the idea of how we might think.
Here is the simple trick to bring about a complete and total change into your life immediately. What are my choices?
Today, the first Saturday of the New Year marks – One Day. And rightfully so, as it is indeed merely one day.
Your choice and your thought process now get a little chance to change and make a choice.
Is Today for you simply One day or can you make it Day One?
The question to myself, is today the day?
My choice can be whatever I choose. Will I do something One Day or will today be the Day?
Can I make today be my Day One instead of One Day?
Those are the simple words. One Day or Day One.
Once you ponder it for a little while you may begin to see changes already happening.
The thing to say to myself then, I guess would be – Will I do it One day or will I make today Day One.
By thinking on this for a little, I can truly say that I have brought a huge element of power and control over my life back in to my own perspective. The power to choose how and when is indeed mine.
Empowering myself does feel good.
Today will mark Day One and this is something I can do about anything I ever put my mind to.
I need not bow down to procrastination; I need not guilt myself over missing 4 days of the year already. I need not think on anything that brings about any negatives in to my life or my day. I can focus on taking back power over my life today, simply when I recognise the difference of One Day in my life and Day One.
Yes, I think we got it now. Today is Day One for me always, no matter what. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, right? Isn’t that how it goes?
Enjoy your New Year, one little day at a time.
