Born again, re-birth. Not exclusive to Christianity

Born again, re-birth. Not exclusive to Christianity.

To be re-born is not something that is physically possible, agreed?
To be born again is something, a title that has been assigned to Christianity though not at all exclusive to any particular group or religious belief system.

The re-birth of any indiviual is possible at any moment in time. Self is something that can be awoken and re-born when YOU decide it is time. The come back king may be a title reserved for those who make such adaptations and changes in their lives and are not exclusively Christian by way of faith. Is becoming re-born simply an idea and because of that idea then therefore it has occured?

Again the religious narative and ownership of such words like re-born or having faith leans totally in to religious belief systems.
How about we leave religion to the side for a moment and consider having faith in a different kind of way.

There will be many times in our lives that we may experience some not so pleasant situations. There exists today hindreds of thousands of courses and therapist’s couches where many individuals are searching for and facing their own “demons”. Though I did say let us leave out the religious elements for a moment. So many people are facing directly, head on their own personal challenges. A word widely used is “trauma”  trauma in the form of some terrifying event or so shocking to the system that we may have become traumatised. There is also the possibility that owing to the extent of the trauma experienced that in the aftermath there is another possibility that stress is formed inside of ourselves and we can experience life in a PTSD type of way. The aftermath is the “post” part as in the after and so the initial trauma was so severe that the post/ aftermath can and has done for many individuals carried on throughout their lives for many years after. Post traumatic stress disorder.
Ah!
A disorder is what may have become. To have some stressor in our lives that reminds us of a horrific time or event in our lives that can continue to haunt us for a very long time indeed.
So what can we do about it?

We can of course begin to see that all past events in our lives do not define who we are today eventhough we may have shaped ourselves to be a person who has learned to live and cope with such traumas, we definitrly can restore ourselves or more so than return to who we thought we were, we can step out of our hiding place and give new life and a new birth to who we actually are today. All baggage included. Yes, with our scars, our war wounds and all that has gone before in our lives, we can begin again.
As a matter of fact we do not have to wait for the new year to come around to begin again, we can perform these new beginnings each and everyday when we wake.
You are aware of the success rate of twelve step programs and the one day at a time mantra, yes?
Each and every day we get to be re-born. We are afforded the beautiful luxury to begin again and become re-born. And this has absolutely nothing to with religion. The faith required is faith in our own ability to perform such changes to our own lives. Faith in our inner strength and the real true power of our own mind.
Yes indeed, mindset! Can we set our mind to begin again eventhough we have experienced horrific trauma?
My answer to you is YES WE CAN!

As we begin each day anew we can set our mind to the beauty in the world.
~ the more we seek the peaceful the more peaceful we will become. ~

The same can be said for our own attitude, our own thoughts, our own breathing and how we see things. Here is a simple idea for you to consider.
When I wake up and did not get the greatest sleep, I may be a little groggy or even grumpy, perhaps you have experienced this kind of thing before?
It is upon me and my own decision making at that precise moment whether I wish to have an unpleasant day or not. This moment in the morning is before I am triggered by any other person, place or thing. My own thoughts and my own feelings. I am offered the opportunity to realign myself first thing in the mornings when I wake up. So what should I choose?
The same process or practice can be applied each minute of each day if I do so need it to be and so you can realign whenever and where ever you want to. You have the power to choose these things.

Then again when we introduce difficult situations or difficult people that may be stimulants to our day, we may react differemtly to each person or place. How can we give birth to our new life when we feel stuck or confined in a situation where we do not wish to be?
We must first think of what exactly are we doing and what are we seeking. What is it that I choose for my life?
Consider asking yourself this on a regular basis in the beginning. So to repeat, what is it that I choose for my life?
When we have a starting point to help ground ourselves to we can fill in the details as we go about our day. We no longer have a need to side step people or places to avoid being “triggered” we can in fact face everything head on and meet all the challenges presented to us in our day to day lives. Why so or how come? Because we are alive for ourselves first. It is me that I must please and it is me who is the one I am choosing to make changes for and to build myself up after traumatic events or difficult times.
PTSD is a real condition and not easily cured, however there are ways to live with and overcome the triggers. Slowly and steadily wins the race.
I am not speaking specifically to the effects of PTSD. More so to overcoming trauma in our lives and coming to a place in life of understanding that we do have the final say and the power over our lives. We do have the power over how we choose to live and we do have the power to heal ourselves to a point of being re-born from any trauma that lingers in our lives.

We begin again, like I have mentioned above we can begin each day at any time of the day. We have the ability to reset a shitty day at any moment where we find it to be needed.
What do we need to do?
1. Look for what we wish to see.
What? When? How?
If I look for the negative aspect of any situation I may be involved in ~ I will find it. That is just a simple plain fact of our life journey. Therefore the concept to flip the script is quite simple. I will begin to look for the positive in each situation I am involved in ~ the result being that I will find that too.
Why so? Because whatever way we view anything is how it will be.

2. Re-birth of myself.
I will allow myself to begin anew every time I need to.
Meaning I will take a pause moment when things are not going my way or my feelings are becoming upset and I find it hard to concentrate or difficult to be heard. My pause moment will allow me a simple second of time to allow me to realign and become reborn with my new intentions more to the forefront of my mind.

3. I will allow myself to be with my feelings  when I find myself down a little or even “triggered” . I will flow with it, I will enjoy the feelings as they pass through me. I will allow myself to feel and to grow in my new re-birth.

4. I will continue to calm my mind.
My thoughts can run at high speed and I will acknowledge that I have the ability to allow them to slow down. I am in control of my life and am no slave to the thoughts in my mind.

5. I will practice concentraring on my own breath.
I will listen and adventure in to my own breathing. Sometimes in peace and sometimes with light music. I can remind myself of how important it is to simply BE.

When we combine the five points above we can begin to see changes come over us. Changes that we can welcome and they are changes that will be the best gift we will ever give to ourselves.
Changes that will bring about a new me a re-birth, a born again feeling of who I am exactly and how my life is on track in my own journey. Not the journey of another, my own journey. My life, my journey my re-birth. I can begin again, I will begin again and I will start over as many times as I feel necessary. My world and my life are desigmed by me. My journey is mine to enjoy.
No other person has any power to remove these things from me.

I ask of you to read that last part again a few times and as often as you need to as the simple whispering of those things to myself combined with some focus on my breathing has brought me to some of the greatest new heights of my life to date and I am by no means done yet. I wish for all who struggle, find things a little difficult to have an opportunity to realise that becoming born again is something totally allowed for all. Yes YOU included.

Practice a few simple steps and come back and comment. Let us know what worked for you and what did not. I am confident that once you have the willingness to bring about the change in your life that you desire then and only then will you see it is no longer “working on myself” it becomes simple life and a thoroughly enjoyable life at that.
